The theme of this campaign was "Smart Prescribing, Clean Hands: Reduces Resistance, Saves Lives". The campaign started off with a CME session by Infectious Disease Consultant, Associate Professor Dr. Sasheela Ponnampalavanar. The talk touches upon "Antimicrobial Resistance: A Clear and Present Danger". The aims of the CME was to: 1) Increase awareness of antibiotic resistance among hospital staff. 2) To introduce & launch UMMC's Antibiotic Guidelines 2014. 3) To announce the initiatives that will be taken to reduce antimicrobial resistance in the hospital. There was a great turnout to the event and it is hoped that this will serve as a platform to gather further support and more active participation from various clinical and clinical support departments in combating antimicrobial resistance. |
