Alternative to Hospira Vancomycin Injection Now Available

2nd June 2017 (Circular NO. SP PPUM: 203/2017):

In relation to Circular NO. SP PPUM: 193/2017 dated 27th May 2017, UMMC has successfully procured stocks of Vancomycin 500mg Injection of Non-Porcine Origin.

This product is manufactured by Lyomark Pharma GmbH of Germany.

From the date of this circular onwards, Inpatient Pharmacy will be setting aside all existing stocks of Hospira Vancomycin Injection and supplying Lyomark Vancomycin Injection instead for treatment requiring the use of this antibiotic.

Lyomark Vancomycin Injection can be administered to Muslim patients without prior need for disclosure or special consent.
