Discontinuation of Supply- Nitrofurantoin

9th March 2017 (Circular No. SP PPUM: 96 /2017):

Apotex Inc. Canada, the sole supplier of Nitrofurantoin Tablets in Malaysia, has discontinued manufacturing the medication.

Furthermore, application by UMMC to import from another supplier had been rejected by the Malaysian Drug Control Authority citing that there are other suitable antibiotics available for treating the same type of infections that nitrofurantoin is used for.
