21st September 2017 (Circular NO. SP PPUM: 349/2017):

Beginning Wednesday, 27th September 2017, all Wards shall ensure that medications are transported to and from the Wards using the Medication Delivery Bag.

This is a Safety & Quality Assurance initiative by Pharmacy for securing medication delivery.

Each Ward has been assigned a designated quantity of Medication Delivery Bags for medications transport purpose and every Ward is also in charge of the Bag's safekeeping, cleanliness as well as maintenance.

Pharmacy has the right to refuse supply if the Ward staff tasked with collecting medications from Pharmacy fails to produce the Medication Delivery Bag.

And upon delivery of medications by Pharmacy staff to Wards, an empty Bag shall be made ready for exchange by the Wards.

Otherwise, Pharmacy will have no Bag to use for the following delivery and is prevented from delivering medications.

This may result in delayed administration of patient's medication or even a missed dose.

The loss of a Bag shall be reported immediately to Pharmacy. As penalty, a suitable fee shall be imposed for Wards to replace their lost Medication Delivery Bag.

Should there be further enquiries, please feel free to call Inpatient Pharmacy at the following extensions:

  • General Line- 2384

  • Pharmacists Room- 2487

The cooperation from all Wards in making sure of the safe and secure delivery of medications within UMMC is very much appreciated.

Thank you!
